On October 8, twenty new members were inducted in the Marblehead
NAHS chapter.
The ceremony was co-hosted by Tri-M and NAHS officers and
advisors. Parents and families of new members were invited to an oath ceremony and
treated to a Jewel Tones performance followed by refreshments. Individual art
piece from each new NAHS member was on display in the high school showcase.
Marblehead NAHS chapter is in its 7th year. It is an
active society with over 35 members. It is dedicated to the promotion of the
visual arts in our community. Members must give 15 hours of community service
every year and maintain a B+ average in their art class in order to remain member.
Members volunteer in the Christmas Walk, the Marblehead Festival of Arts, as
well as other events. The Marblehead NAHS chapter has developed a partnership
with the Marblehead Art Association and is planning an Emerging Artist Show in
the spring 2014. NAHS also provides every year two scholarships for students planning
to study the visual arts in college. We encourage any student who loves to
draw, paint, sculpt or take photographs and videos to apply. Next year
application will be posted in April.
