New Opportunities for Art Lovers!
For many years MHS has offered a Studio
4 Honors/Art Major option for highly motivated students, but beginning this
year, MHS is also offering Studio 2 Honors as well as Studio 3 Honors classes.
Honors students complete one art piece outside of class each quarter, inspired by curriculum content. They also are required to visit an art gallery or art museum each semester, and write a short reflection on their experience.
Studio 2 Honors students also
completed summer assignments, using playing cards as a reference, using a
variety of media and applications. The resulting art pieces showcase the range
of talents and ideas in this year’s class- we can’t wait to see what they
create!
Studio 3 Honors summer assignment
was a self-portrait with a twist: If you were a pair of shoes what would you
be? Medium and format were up to the artist.
