You don’t have to be starving to be an artist. What better
way to correct the misconception that there are no profitable careers in the
arts than by inviting successful artists to share their experience? The MHS
Unified Art Department is presenting its 2014-15 visiting artist series. This
speaker series is made possible thanks to a generous grant from the Friends of Marblehead Public Schools, Inc. Four successful and
internationally recognized artists will share their work and talk about their
life experience to MHS general student body. Each presentation will be followed
by a workshop giving students the opportunity to get some feedback on their own
work from each guest artist.
First in the series of
four, photographer Olivia Parker will present her work on Wednesday December 10th.
On February 4th coming from NYC graphic artist and designer Luba Lukova will talk
about her work on social justice and social awareness. Illustrator Jarrett
Krosoczka, author of the children series The Lunch Lady, will appear March 11th.
The series will conclude with Rebecca Kamen whose work explores the connection
between science and art.
